I know that there are not too many of you out there using FMSA12 + Lasso 8.5/8.6, but I thought I'd address this anyway.
I know that the 'not' operator no longer works with 12 (see Lasso 8.5.5 language guide alluding to FMSA9). Shame but instead the 'neq' operator is working. Only trouble is that 'neq' literally means "not equal to" - in that it operates only on an exact match.
In this case I might have 3 entires in the field: 'UK, USA, Eur'. In order for 'neq' to work it must exactly match that field entry. No longer will it work with a single entry, e.g. (neq) UK.
This is a nuisance, but not the only nuisance I have encountered with this latest version of FM. One such is that numeric and date fields no longer work without an 'eq' operator preceding the query. Without the 'eq' a search of a numeric field for 1962 will also return 19620 to 19629 or even 196200 to 196299. Huh? As for dates, forget it, unless that 'eq' operator is included.
Is there anyone out there who feels my pain?
