Problems with Custom Error Page
I'm using a Custom Error page for a new project that I launched yesterday. It involves scanning a QR-Code that has a (Blowfish) encoded URL on it, decoding the URL on the error page, storing the decoded information in a session and using it to direct the scanner to the right place, with the right information available.
The problem I'm having is that on iPhone scanning Apps with a webkit browser, everything works perfectly on the first page, but on leaving that page, all session info is lost. If you exit from the app and instead open the scanned link in the mobile Safari browser, it works fine, session info is retained. The error occurs on three of the Scanning Apps that I tried on the iPhone, and disappears on all when Safari is used. The pages work fine on Android apps.
To see it in action, you scan the Qr-Code on the cube here: http://www.qr-cube.com/
I'm wondering if anyone has run into this before, or has an idea what it might be. I'm in communication with one of the App developers and he was leaning towards it being an Apple webkit problem.
The product is a gift item and has pre-christmas deliverables in a couple of weeks, so need to try and sort out the problem or find a work around by then.
TIA,
Neil
