Parsing [client_browser]
Hello -
To help aid our tech support personnel, I'd like to identify if plain English the browser version the client is using. Using the Lasso [client_browser] tag, I could possibly parse out t the user-agent:
Safari:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8_3) AppleWebKit/536.28.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/6.0.3 Safari/536.28.10
or Firefox:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.8; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0
or Chrome:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8_3) AppleWebKit/537.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/24.0.1312.57 Safari/537.17
But there doesn't seem to be a repeatable pattern. Each of the three is different and even Chrome sort of reports itself as Safari.
Is anyone doing anything that works? We need people to be able to go to a webpage and have it say something like "You are using Firefox 3.6.2. The currently supported version of Firefox is Firefox 19.
