Lasso 9 for Mountain Lion - a success story
I took a deep breath and upgraded to Mountain Lion.
A lot of things worked as I hoped.
One caveat was that ML no longer includes X11 and that produced +1000 dialog popups telling me that X11 was missing when trying to start lassoserver. Was an easy fix. The replacement can be found here:
http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/
And yes, it was literally more than 1000 dialog boxes popping up! I could not click cancel faster than new dialogs were produced...
It's possible that I should've uninstalled Lasso first or at least shut down Apache.
Next stop was to install a suitable lasso 9 version. I remembered Kyle pointing to an install that would be Mountain Lion savvy, but not having the link available I took a stab on the latest version I found here:
http://www.lassosoft.com/_downloads/public/Lasso_Server/Mac/Lasso_Server_9.2/
I grabbed this one:
Lasso-Server-with-Instance-Manager-9.2.4-b3.zip
Turns out that Lassosoft is not a trusted developer so ML refused to install the package. Some googling showed me the way. Right click and choose open and you are allowed to bypass the gatekeeper check.
To make a short story long I then got the install to work flawlessly. After adjusting the apache config file to acknowledge my site config directory I was able to access the localhost sites. No worries.
Super nice!
