Lasso 8.6 stable
Hi List,
Since a week my ever-problematic Lasso 8.6 installation on Mac OS 10.6 is now stable.
Even email gets sent via email_send tags and using the default Postfix installation of OS X !?!?!?!?! No more 'failed to connect' errors.
The major change I made to all my scripts in the Event Queue, 13 in all, is to suppress all output.
Since the Event Queue calls the entries as a web-browser, I always wondered (still do) where the output of these 'webpages' goes to.
Apparently *not* to /dev/null, instead it caused memory-errors and crashed internal Lasso-routines, which in turn resulted in strange errors to user and the famous 'failed to connect'-errors.
Yesterday I paused all scheduled entries because I had to update a crucial script, and at that same moment some 'failed to connect' errors appeared again.
After I updated my file, resumed the event-queue, restarted Lasso and re-queued the email messages, Lasso has been quiet again. It makes me feel good :-)
So, LassoSoft, there's one pointer too look into -> the Event Queue, the redirection output of executed scripts to NULL
I really don't believe it but I look every day, multiple times if I need to restart Lasso, but really - no Lasso-generated errors at all anymore.
Just wanted to share - maybe a tip for someone who uses the Event Queue as much as I do.
