L9 cpu utilization
Hi, I'm on L9, Centos 5. Just thought I'd share this with the list.
From time to time L9 cpu utilization spikes up to where it's using
all of the server's cpu. At that point, Lasso is unresponsive. It
recently happened while I was at my desk, so I took a look at a couple
of things.
# top
top - 18:05:33 up 33 days, 6:50, 1 user, load average: 2.02, 2.00,
1.65
Tasks: 300 total, 1 running, 299 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s):100.0%us, 0.0%sy, 0.0%ni, 0.0%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi,
0.0%si, 0.0%st
Mem: 4718592k total, 4718592k used, 0k free, 0k buffers
Swap: 0k total, 0k used, 0k free, 2314360k cached
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
25684 _lasso 20 0 931m 775m 21m S 199.7 16.8 62:12.85
lassoserver
Interestingly, looking at mpstat didn't show a problem:
# mpstat
Linux 2.6.32-6-pve () 07/29/2013
06:05:52 PM CPU %user %nice %sys %iowait %irq %soft
%steal %idle intr/s
06:05:52 PM all 1.98 0.00 0.24 0.27 0.00 0.00
0.00 97.51 0.00
nor did ps:
# ps aux | grep lassoserver
root 2374 0.0 0.0 4028 720 pts/0 S+ 18:06 0:00 grep
lassoserver
_lasso 25684 6.8 16.8 953864 793744 ? Sl 02:14 64:54 /usr/
sbin/lassoserver -flisten lasso.fastcgi.sock
# kill -9 25684
and everything is back to normal.
Originally, I had a script that used ps to look at CPU utilization,
but I was scratching my head why it was never triggered. Now I
know. I've changed my script to look at top and hopefully that will
take care of it.
Thanks,
Anibal Escobar
